Tax Assistant / Semi Senior (0435)

Make your career count

Looking to build on your tax experience but want more exposure, more variety and a clearer path forward?

This role will give you the opportunity to take ownership of your work, develop your technical capability and gain broader exposure across both compliance and advisory work. You'll work closely with experienced colleagues in a collaborative national tax team, helping you accelerate your development towards a Senior role and beyond.

About the role

You'll be joining a well-established and supportive direct tax team, working across a mix of corporate, personal and trust tax matters.

This role is ideal for someone who is already confident handling routine work and is ready to take on more responsibility, expand their technical knowledge and start supporting on more complex assignments and advisory projects.

You'll gain exposure to a broad and varied client base, including entrepreneurial businesses, corporates and private clients, giving you the opportunity to develop into a well-rounded tax professional.

What you'll be doing?

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare and finalise corporate, personal, partnership and trust tax returns
  • Support on more complex assignments and advisory projects, contributing to technical analysis and outputs
  • Draft VAT returns, registrations and supporting calculations
  • Act as day-to-day contact for clients on routine matters and queries
  • Assist with planning and delivery of assignments, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met
  • Undertake research to support client work and develop technical knowledge
  • Work closely with senior team members on a range of client engagements
  • Begin to take ownership of smaller assignments, demonstrating sound judgement and attention to detail
  • Support and guide trainees or junior team members where appropriate

What we're looking for

Whilst having the following experience is advantageous, we value potential and attitude just as much:

  • ATT qualified and/or ACA/CTA part-qualified
  • Experience preparing a range of tax returns with good technical grounding
  • Ability to manage routine client queries confidently and professionally
  • Exposure to corporate and/or personal tax with a desire to broaden knowledge
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with a willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills and confidence building relationships with colleagues and clients

What you'll get in return

  • Full ACA/CTA study support
  • Structured development through our Step Ahead programme
  • Access to mentoring and regular performance reviews
  • Exposure to a wide range of clients and technical work
  • A collaborative and supportive team environment
  • Flexible working through our Smart Working approach
