Tax Assistant Manager (CTA qualified) (0419)

Make your career count

Not getting enough exposure to tax advisory work? Step into a role where you'll build on your experience, take on more complex work and build direct relationships with senior stakeholders, whilst accelerating your progression towards Manager.

At Price Bailey, this role offers more than a standard Assistant Manager position. You'll work closely with experienced colleagues across a growing national tax team, gaining early exposure to high-quality advisory projects and the opportunity to take real ownership of your development.

About the role

You'll be joining a well-established and collaborative direct tax team, working across a mix of corporate and personal tax matters. The role offers exposure to a broad client base, including entrepreneurial businesses, larger corporates and high-net-worth individuals, giving you the opportunity to further develop your advisory capability. This is particularly suited to someone who already has experience supporting on advisory work and is now looking to increase their exposure and broaden the complexity of work they handle.

Whether you're looking to retain a mixed corporate and personal tax portfolio, or develop a future specialism, this role can be shaped around your career goals.

Flexible working is part of day-to-day life at Price Bailey through our Smart Working approach, giving you the autonomy to work in a way that supports both performance and balance.

What you'll be doing?

In this role, you will:

  • Take a more active role in delivering tax advisory projects, including reorganisations, transactions and due diligence
  • Build on your existing experience across corporate and personal tax planning, including CGT and IHT
  • Manage a portfolio of clients and act as their trusted day-to-day contact
  • Work closely with senior colleagues and Partners on increasingly complex advisory engagements
  • Review work and support the development of more junior team members

This is a hands-on role designed to help you transition from supporting on advisory work to leading it.

What we're looking for

Whilst having the following experience is advantageous, we also value passion and potential. If you meet the minimum criteria listed below and are eager to develop yourself, we would love to hear from you:

  • CTA qualification (or equivalent) (minimum criteria)
  • A strong grounding in UK direct tax, with demonstrable exposure to advisory work (minimum criteria)
  • Experience supporting on advisory projects and a desire to take on more complex and visible work
  • Exposure to corporate and/or personal tax, with an openness to either remain broad or specialise over time
  • Confidence in managing client relationships and communicating effectively
  • A proactive mindset and ambition to progress into a Manager role in the near future

What you'll get in return

  • Increased exposure to high-quality advisory work, building on your existing experience
  • A clear and supported pathway to Manager
  • The opportunity to work closely with accessible senior leadership and Partners
  • A collaborative environment where you're trusted to take ownership
  • Flexible working through our Smart Working approach
  • A culture that supports long-term development without compromising work-life balance
