What did you do before joining Price Bailey?

I was a technical consultant for ICAEW, having come to that role via two stints in public practice, one in financial training and a deep dive into ethics and economic crime policy.

Tell us about what your role involves

About as varied a role as I’ve ever had. Keeping the firm compliant involves training, guidance, technical consultations, file reviews, reviews into key areas of the firm’s business for our regulator (ICAEW), complaints handling, some difficult conversations and lots of delightful conversations.

What one thing do you like most about working at Price Bailey?

Apart from the variety I like the people. It’s a genuine pleasure to help teams with the issues they are facing.

How do you make our Smart Working policy work for you?

I have my youngest daughter for a couple of night’s midweek so the flexibility offered by Smart Working is invaluable at the end of the day when she needs ferrying and food!

What did you do before joining Price Bailey?

After completing an Executive Secretarial Studies Degree in Barcelona - where I am from, I worked as an administrator in the Private Sector for a few years and then in the Cosmetic Industry as a Project Development Assistant. I then decided to move to the UK with my partner and I joined Price Bailey! That was over 6 years ago (in May 2016) and this is still my first ever job in the UK.

Tell us about what your role involves

I started as a Senior Administrator and now I am the Tax Support Team Leader. My role now involves taking care of the Tax Support staff and making sure the Tax Department gets the best support service and to add value wherever I can.

What one thing do you like most about working at Price Bailey?

What I like the most about working at Price Bailey is the endless possibilities to evolve and develop. I have been able to do what I am passionate about which is to improve processes, solve problems, detect what needs to be done and take action! All in all to be heard and valued.

I have the chance to work from where I feel is best for me and to have a healthy work/life balance.

What did you do before joining Price Bailey?

Before joining Price Bailey in August 2020, I was in sixth form completing my A-levels. I joined via the school leaver program and applied through the Price Bailey website.

Tell us about what your role involves

My role mainly consists of the preparation of annual accounts for sole traders, partnerships, companies and service charges. Due to the variety of service within the business team, I am also involved with completing VAT returns and preparing tax returns on a regular business.

What one thing do you like most about working at Price Bailey?

The thing I like most about working at Price Bailey is the hybrid working and how flexible it is. For example, there is no set days which everyone has to be in the office however you tend to find that more people prefer to come in now than stay at home due to the office environment.

How do you make our Smart Working policy work for you?

I am an early bird and prefer to start the day early, so throughout the week, I may work an hour extra or so which normally allows me to have a longer lunch.

Finally, what advice would you give to anybody thinking of applying to work here?

My main piece of advice is to research as much as possible about accounting and all the different services which are offered to obtain an understanding about the kind of work which you will undertake.

What did you do before joining Price Bailey?

I joined the Strategic Corporate Finance team here at Price Bailey towards the end of 2021, after joining from another accountancy firm within their Transaction Services team.

Tell us about what your role involves

I am an Assistant Manager in the Strategic Corporate Finance team. My role is to assist SME’s and owner managed businesses to achieve their goals, which could be to grow their businesses through debt or equity funding, the acquisition of another business, or to sell their own business.

What one thing do you like most about working at Price Bailey?

The culture and opportunities available at Price Bailey. I’m lucky to work with supportive and talented colleagues, both within my team and across the practice. I feel that colleagues care about you on both a professional and also personal basis and there are opportunities and the support available to progress and develop key skills.

How do you make our Smart Working policy work for you?

I like the flexibility the smart working policy provides. Working in a deal based environment there can be times where you have to put in the extra hours to get a deal across the line. I like that you can ‘take back’ this time when you are quieter - I use this to go to gym classes, take a long lunch, or finish an hour early on a Friday in the summer and enjoy the sunshine!

What did you do before joining Price Bailey?

I worked for a regional accountancy firm, having joined straight from university. I joined their Business Recovery department and was there for almost 6 years, working on a variety of both corporate and personal insolvency cases.

Tell us about what your role involves

My current role is to manage and oversee a portfolio of cases, which includes a variety of solvent and insolvent liquidations, administrations and bankruptcies. As part of the Insolvency & Recovery team I support a range of clients, including companies looking to restructure or dissolve, and individuals facing insolvency. I also provide direction, training and advice to senior and junior team members.

What one thing do you like most about working at Price Bailey?

The culture makes Price Bailey a great environment to work in.

How do you make our Smart Working policy work for you?

Price Bailey’s Smart Working policy has allowed me to work in a way that supports my young family. I spend a lot more time in the evenings with my children that would ordinarily be time spent commuting. Having the opportunity to choose what time to begin/ finish work, and where to work from, helps manage a work-life balance.

What did you do before joining Price Bailey?

I joined Price Bailey in 2023 straight after a maternity leave, having previously worked as an Audit Manager at another accountancy firm for 11 years.

As a Corporate Manager I am responsible for a range of audits including academies, charities and further education colleges. I work with a variety of teams and clients, which keeps the job interesting.

What one thing do you like most about working at Price Bailey?

The opportunity to work in sectors which interest me and to work with knowledgeable and supportive colleagues.

I have two small children and the Smart Working policy really helps me to juggle family life with my career. There is a culture of trust at Price Bailey and I have flexibility to be able to balance home life whilst ensuring client needs are being met.

What did you do before joining Price Bailey?

I joined Price Bailey in August 2022 after graduating from the University of Surrey, where I studied Chemical and Process Engineering.

I am currently a trainee in the Corporate team, where I work on various statutory audits either remotely or on-site with clients. Price Bailey has a great client portfolio which includes private and listed companies, charities and academies, so there is always opportunity to find your interests and learn something new.

What one thing do you like most about working at Price Bailey?

It’s an amazing place to work, especially as a trainee. The team is really friendly and there is a great support system to help you develop your personal and professional skills.

How do you make our Smart Working policy work for you?

Smart Working helps me have a good work-life balance when I have upcoming exams. I can arrange to work fewer hours on the days leading up to exams and then make-up the time either the week before or the days after my exams.

Finally, what advice would you give to anybody thinking of applying to work here?

Don’t hesitate to apply if you have no prior accounting knowledge. I definitely didn’t, but there is a great structure in place to support trainees. That being said, you will get out of the role what you put in, so definitely do your research and be prepared to take ownership of your progression.

What did you do before joining Price Bailey?

I joined Price Bailey in 2017, but I started my accounting career as a graduate at Deloitte and then spent 10 years at a leading independent firm in Cambridge, where I worked in the Business Tax team and completed my ACA qualification. I’ve also since qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser.

Tell us about what your role involves

I am a Director in the Tax team and specialise in corporate tax. I am responsible for a client portfolio and wide range of advisory projects, including company sales and acquisitions, corporate reorganisations, R&D tax relief and Patent Box – amongst others! I line manage two ACA CTA students and also assist other Price Bailey teams with more complex tax work.

What one thing do you like most about working at Price Bailey?

Opportunity – to progress, work flexibly and continually learn from colleagues and clients.

How do you make our Smart Working policy work for you?

Smart Working allows me to work when and where I want, as long as client needs are met and it is not disruptive to my team or other Price Bailey colleagues. Client work is always prioritised, however at other times during the typical 9-5 I might be on the school run with my son, out exercising or at a personal appointment, which I can do with Smart Working without any permanent change or reduction in my working hours.
